I don't know if I'm in the right area, but I want to record from my TV and then be able to copy that to a DVD disc and then, play it on a DVD player. If not, then what device(s) would I need to be able to accomplish this task? null

Short answer: this alone will not record the way you are asking.

1) you need recording software either on the TV that saves a show and allows that file to be transferred to a computer OR hook the TV up to a computer that has recording software on it to record and save.
2) then you need to burn the file onto the DVD. Then that DVD could be played.
