The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80 cannot be used as an external device for a car. It requires a compatible operating system and gets its power from the USB port that it is connected to. There are system environment requirements that a compatible device must meet for the CPU, Memory, Hard Disk Drive capacity and Video Memory for it to work with this drive...^IFV
