“Help! My DVD player in my computer does not work. I have no idea why. I need to open up a document from a DVD. Can I insert my DVD and or CD's, plug it into my computer (via USB cord) and be able to view/open my DVD file? Can I copy the DVD/CD as well?”

The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80 will work the same way that the built-in optcal DVD drive in your computer does. The only difference is that one is an external device and the other in an internal device. This drive gets its power from the USB port so you will need to make sure that the USB port that you plug it into on your computer can deliver power. You didn't mention whether your computer is a Windows or Mac computer, but the drive supports the Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS X Operating systems but the supplied software CD that includes DVD software is for Windows only...^IFV
