• I can't help you much, sorry. Not sure about the dual layer question. I bought this for my daughter so she could run a PC game on CD that she used to play when she was little. Re the software, question, I believe set-up instructions include a link to where you can download 2 or 3 utilities, including burning s/w. No s/w CD comes in the package.
