I connected my LG CD/DVD reader/writer to 2018 Kia and 2018 Toyota USB slots. Both cars' audio systems recognized that I had something plugged into the USB slot, and the LG device was able to open and close and spin, but, neither audio system would recognize the content (n.b., I used both personally- and professionally-recorded CDs and DVDs to no avail). The web says that the USB and similar ports are not powered enough to run many external devices.
