Yes, this drive can be used a bootable drive to install both Microsoft Windows and motherboard drivers. You will need to go into the BIOS settings to set this drive up as bootable. Make sure that you have a serial ata cable connection available on the motherboard. The motherboard manual should tell you what you'll need to do or how to go about getting into the motherboard BIOS as well as how to set the drive up as bootable.
