I recently purchased a Lenova Laptop and had to purchase a separate External DVD player which was a LGProduct. I was assured that this DVD drive is compatable with any laptop or chrome book. You should be able to watch DVD movies as well as play music CDs. Good luck with your purchase.

You can use use an external USB CD/DVD drive like the LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80, with a Chromebook, however, there are some major limitations to using a Chromebook external DVD or CD drive. External devices are limited as to storage of readable files, and music files are not, without drivers, which cannot be installed on a Chromebook. You should contact the manufacturer about your Chromebook to ask if it can be used with an external optical drive or if they have a list of optical drives that it can be used with...^IFV
