It needs some sort of controller (computer to connect with) I don't know what the RV would have that could make use of it so you might need a computer as well. Once you find a way to connect it and control it, you can use it to play CDs and DVDS but I wouldn't recommend it for active travel. It's built for desktop use and the lens would likely hit and scratch disks that are playing when you hit a bump if any sort
