• I used it to install turbo tax and several other programs that had a cd disk. It worked fine.

• The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive, Model # SP80NB80 works the same way that a built-in DVD drive on a computer that has one does and can be used to install "things like Windows 10 to the computer". Only difference is that this unit connects externally via USB...^IFV
