A:AnswerI can answer part of your questions. It is designed to read and write most cd and dvd formats.... I'm a mac user so I don't know if it will work with your crome book... You would need a usb port and if it has that there is a good chance it will work for you.. I bought mine precisely for the reason that I like "hard" back-ups and macs don't come with built-in disc drives anymore. The unit comes with a disc of software for pc style unit management.....I find that this unit is a great value for the money, so if you have a usb input- go for it!
