    • Answer To burn a CD, you will need to use rewritable disc. Once you create a CD using a CD-R disc you cannot add, delete or modify. ^Daphane

  • QuestionIs this drive compatible with a Chromebook?

    • Answer You can, but Chrome OS can read individual files on these disks if they are in a supported file format. This means you can easily open image or audio files in Chrome OS from files on a CD or DVD. However, there are some limitations. You cannot play an audio CD or a movie on a DVD and you cannot write anything to a CD, or DVD disc. Chrome OS does not support optical disks to let you play music or movies.

    • Answer The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80 was released in 2017 before macOS high Sierra version 10.13.6 was released so the owner's manual only says that it is compatible with Mac OS X v.10.7.5 or Higher Operating Systems. It doesn't come with a software installation disc for Mac, but your acOS high Sierra version 10.13.6 should be able to detect the drive...^IFV

    • Answer You will need to contact Acer to inquire if their Chromebooks are compatible with external DVD Optical Drives. You can connect the LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80 and it probably will read the contents with no problem at all. However, there are some major limitations to using a Chromebook external DVD or CD drive. External devices are limited as to storage of readable files, Chrome OS can read files on CD, CD-RW, DVD, and DVD-RW discsif they are supported file formats. This means you can easily open image or audio files in ChromeOS from files on a CD or DVD. However, the limitations are that Chromebooks do not have the necessary codecs to plays DVD files. You can connect a CD or DVD player on a Chromebook and use it to read data files if you have a disk written in data format above, but you cannot play an audio CD or a movie on a DVD or Blu-ray and you cannot write anything to a CD, DVD or Blu-ray disk. Codecs are necessary to compress and decompress large files like DVD videos...^IFV

It is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS X operating systems and its system requirements are a Pentium IV 2.4 GHz or Higher(with USB 2.0) for basic performance(Recommended for optimal performance: Pentium IV 3.2 GHz or Higher) CPU,Memory of 256 MB or larger (Recommended: 512 MB), a hard disk drive with 20 GB or more free space. (The free space needed for writing depends on the quantity of data.) and Video Memory of 64 MB (Recommended: 128 MB). The drive gets it power from the USB port and it comes with a Software Install Disc for Windows...^IFV

There are system environment requirements that a compatible device must meet for the CPU, Memory, Hard Disk Drive capacity and Video Memory for it to work with this drive...^IFV
