The smell could be coming from a deodorizer in the fridge side. It gives ice a musty smell

It’s great to hear how much you love the unit overall, and we’d like to help you enjoy fresh-tasting ice too. First, let’s make sure the water line and filter are working optimally for your LRYKC2606S. Since you installed the LT1000P water filter when your refrigerator was set up, we recommend flushing the water line to clear out any trapped air or residual contaminants. To do this, place a large pitcher under the dispenser (or collect ice in a container), then press and release the dispenser pad in 30-second intervals—dispense water for 30 seconds, pause for 60 seconds—and repeat until you have flushed 2.5 gallons of water. This step helps remove any odors lingering inside the line from installation. Once you’ve flushed the water line, discard the first two bins of ice to ensure any remaining particles or odors are removed from the ice maker itself. Next, check the condition of your LT1000P water filter. Even though it’s new, sometimes a filter can develop a mild odor if it sat dormant before installation or if there were impurities in your home’s water supply. If you notice any lingering smell after flushing, it may help to replace the filter with a fresh LT1000P cartridge. After installing the new filter, repeat the 2.5-gallon flush and discard at least two full ice bins again. Additionally, confirm that the water supply line connected to the back of the refrigerator is not transferring odors—turn off the water supply, disconnect the line from the refrigerator, then turn the water back on to taste a small amount of water directly from the line; if it tastes or smells off, you may need to replace that line. Finally, remember that your LRYKC2606S includes an LT120F air filter in the fridge compartment. While this filter primarily targets food odors inside the fresh-food section, it’s a good idea to check that it’s properly seated and clean—replace it if necessary. Maintaining fresh interior air can sometimes help reduce faint smells that find their way into the ice maker through normal door openings.
