It depends on what function you are using. The cycles often signal before the cook time is done. The reason is that your food *may* be cooked or warmed sufficiently. The signal prompts you to check it; or, if using defrost cycle, to turn the food over. If you're referring to the end of cooking signal until you open the door, I think it does continue to prompt you, but I cannot recall for sure as my LMC1575ST failed mid December in under 5 months. This is the 2nd failed LG microwave in 1.5 yrs. I am trying to resolve the issue with LG as we speak.
