I'm buying this for my mother-in-law. She doesn't have Wi-Fi or internet. Will this still work with just a cable to hook to the tv? null

Yes. Connecting it to wi-fi is optional. You do not need to connect it to wi-fi to use it. However we did have to use a HDMI cord to connect it to the tv. I would be sure her tv has HDMI connections.
