• Yes, I believe this unit will work with your Windows 7 computer, as long as you have SATA capability. From what you have stated regarding your HDD and the unused interface cabling, I am going to guess that you have that capability. Windows 7 should have a built-in driver that will work with the new drive.

• You can verify with your computer's manufacturer, but the LG INternal 24X DVD Rewriter with M-DISC™ Support, Model # GH24NSb0 should work with your older computer. By design, all newer SATA standards are backwards compatible with older SATA standards and will fall back to the slower speed such that they will work. This is a power supply issue not a SATA version issue...^IFV
