• No but there is s button you press and the ear bud retracts back to it's place. Works great!

• No you need to push a button on the inside of the headset to retract the ear buds. It does not work as well as other versions of the LG line.

• they are retractable. Not sure what you mean by automatically. There are little buttons that are on the inside of both the left and right that you press to have the ear buds retract. I had the older model for over a year and never had an issue.
