No you can't hear without the headphones in your ear to talk or listen to music you have to have the ear buds in your ear in order to hear

No. Unlike some ear buds where the sound can get loud enough to hear without inserting them in your ears, this one does not get that loud and there's no external speaker on the neck band itself.

Yes, you can. When I use it to call and receive calls ,I use one, when listing to music, I use both.

No. The sound only comes from the ear buds, so you won't be able to hear unless they are in your ears.

No! You definitely need at least one earbud in. I usually keep just one in at a time unless I'm working out or something.
