The ps4 does not support 120hz mode. Prior gen Xbox had this capability. The new gen consoles will include the 120 hz mode including the ps5. You dint need display port for 120hz. It will run perfectly fine thru hdmi. Trust me I have done so with both my ps5 and my Xbox series x.

Please try again later.I assume the PS4 is connecting to the display using an HDMI cable, this is why you're locked at 60hz, you need to get the video feed from a Display Port in order to get 144hz. HDMI does not support 144hz. Unsure if PS5 is going to have a Display Port, but you should be able to confirm that easily.
