There is a clear plastic cover over the home button. This case is 100% waterproof.

It has aplastic cover over the button to seal it in but allows the heat from your finger to still work the phone!

The home button is already covered with this case

the home button is covered also but with a special plastic that allows for your fingerprint too pass through

It has a thin layer of plastic over it. The touch ID still works through the plastic.

Normally most life proof cases come with a cover for the home button I had a life proof case I would check with life proof to see if the product you have has a cover for the home button

The case comes with a thin membrane that covers that area and the fingerprint still works through it.
