• The newer iPads do indeed have support for an external trackpad or mouse and there is a cursor. This support was added in a recent iPadOS update.

• You will actually see a cursor on the iPad when using the trackpad. It is very easy to use and responsive.

• Apple implemented touchpad functionality with the recent iOS. It’s a similar experience to using a Mac, down to the gestures.

• The trackpad won't give you traditional cursor capabilities, but acts as a multi-finger gesture for actions such as swipe, scroll, pinch, switch apps, and double-tap.
