This product does not have active noise cancellation. Active noise cancellation is a premium feature and it helps with ambient background noise. Not much will help with lawn mowers or booming music in the background.

It basically focuses on what's it from of the mic (your voice). Note that if you want to completely shut off your mic's sound, you do have a mute button on the in-line controls.
