“Is the Unifying receiver USB dongle required for use? I'd rather use Bluetooth and spare the port. Also, what's the benefit of being able to connect multiple mice and keyboards to one computer?”

The Wireless keyboard I ordered was to be able to type a key that no longer works on my lap top. It does need a USB port to run. but it works fine. And now I can use it away from the computer.

Yes, the USB receiver is required for the K270.
