The keyboard and mouse work as separate pieces of hardware. You can pretty much use any combination of keyboard and mouse as long as they are compatible with your operating system and you have enough USB ports to support them. This keyboard comes with a little USB receiver that you plug into one of the USB ports on your computer then it's ready to go! You don't need to charge it "all the time", but depending on how much you use it, it may need to be charged every couple weeks or so.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will work with a wired mouse, but if you need to be that close to the PC, you might as well get a wired keyboard. I use mine in the Livingroom, my PC hooked up to my TV, with a Logitech wireless mouse. I'm a good 10' from my PC no problem. Battery life is very good, it has green lights on it 3 lights fully charged, 2 light medium, 1 light you should charged it. I've never had the battery go dead on me, I usually just charge it about once a week just to keep it full. It charges with a regular phone charger, and you can use it while it's charging. It comes with a little blue-tooth transmitter that plugs into any usb port on your PC.
