• You need either a cd/dvd reader or an internet connection. One way or other you need to install the Logitech software that you use to connect to the USB dongle that comes with the keyboard. If you don't have the cd player you can download the needed software from Logitech.

• No need for a CD/DVD. The keyboard comes with a USB receiver. Just plug it into your laptop and it will prompt you to download the "Unifying" software from Logitech.

• The keyboard worked for me without installing any software. There may be some software that can be installed to provide additional functionality, but I am sure it can all be downloaded from the Logitech site.

• yes and no , this comes with a USB dongle < this is a wireless kb > if it is your only logitech wireless devise it is plug and play, if you have a < logitech >wireless mouse or trackpad you need to load the supplied software via mini disk. you can also download the software from the web to bypass the optical drive from here http://support.logitech.com/software/unifying hope this helps

• Nope! Mine worked instantly when I plugged in the dongle. I think I had to download some drivers for it but it was all pretty automatic. I built my pc without a CD/DVD drive and it worked instantly. This keyboard is seriously the best one I've ever bought.
