You can either program one of the buttons to allow for panning/horizontal scrolling, or you can press shift on your keyboard while using the scroll wheel to activate horizontal scroll. Hope this helps! :)

Plus it would increase the cost. So in my estimation, not having a 2nd wheel is not a drawback.
