Yes, at least in the Logitech brand works, they use the unifying software to setup more than one device to one receiver

In my experience, the mouse and receiver are tied together with a unique code. The receiver cannot control multiple mouses as you would like to use in your situation. This makes sense when you think there could be a room with several of the same model mouse used simultaneously.

NO! The mouse works through a Dongle which is plugged into your computer. The mouse talks to your computer through that dongle only.
