“I bought this in a package with the wireless keyboard. Both work on the same receiver dongle. Mouse is going bad. Can I buy (only) this mouse new and will it still work with only the one dongle for both the keyboard and the mouse?”

I had to purchase a new mouse for my keyboard, got the same brand mouse (Logitech) and it worked perfectly.

No, you can not. Each mouse and keyboard are set with a different frequency. This fix the issue if you are in an office and have several of them, will not be interference in between.
