Yes. I just tried to explain to another inquirer that there are key elements of the units that are in each of the speakers.

I'm not sure if they are wired serially or in parallel. The volume/on off control is not on the same speaker where the power source lead connects, so I am inclined to believe that there are key elements in both speakers preventing one from cutting the lead to either of the speakers and discarding one. Sorry.
