No problems with mine.
I don't really understand how yours is breaking. Are you using a hammer to install and remove the Ipad?

The instructions are very clear and the product works as advertised.
When installed properly it holds the Ipad very securely and is no problem at all to install & remove . I think you should visit the GeekSquad at BestBuy and they could help you understand the item a little better.

I have an ipad air 2. I had to buy the specific keyboard for this ipad. I haven't had the issue with the side grips breaking,

Ours hasn't yet. We don't use it a ton, mainly for Skypeing the UK, and it lives in the case, so we don't take it out.

Mine are loose and do not hold the iPad securely any longer after about 5 months.

Yes, the side grips just broke after 6 months of use. I take the iPad out just a couple of times/month.

Yes. This is a terrible case for $80. Mine broke after 2 months. Now I am using tape to keep the iPad in the case.
