• Mine stays paired well. I've never had an issue with that. However the keyboard will occasionally turn itself on.

• Pairs instantly when opened. I use it on the road all day, never an issue as long as its charged.

• It automatically pairs each time it switches on when the iPad is placed in typing position. Takes perhaps 2 seconds and is totally automatic. There is a blue indicator light that indicates successful pairing.

• It stays paired with bluetooth the entire time I am using it...even when closing iPad, as long as it isn't turned off.

• Had a Zagg and had the same problem you descibe. Returned it and got the Logitech. Works great with zero problems so far after a month of solid use. FYI, my iPad Air is used for work so it is used heavily.
