Is this speaker set digital optical or is it aux? null

It uses a 3.5mm headphone jack like those found on modern wired headphones and earbuds. It will plug into an "aux" port found in many automobiles but will probably not play audio. They it need 120 volt power not available in most cars and aux ports generally receive audio from external sources but do not play audio.
