Your subscription begins the day of purchase. If the product was purchased with an auto renewal set up in store, like in the case of 365, it starts that day.

I think this product is more complete than the one that is pre-installed on your computer when it was purchased. I think I am on the same boat as you are and I am glad I installled the product right away.
