“I canceled my subscription because I was unable to save any new documents. I could as many tabs to an existing excel file but couldn't save a new file. Also, unable to save any new files to my desktop, has this been fixed”

Save them to your Drive. Or cloud. Save as PDFs, for future, they are easier to route.
