The subscriptions are designed to be yearly and then renewed. Thus I am pretty sure that the above is not an option. If you purchase the 5 and don't use it that is your option. You are still paying for it. I have the 5 and I am using 4 of the 5 currently. You can put it on your laptop, desktop, and mobile devices.

No, you cannot. Once you activate the subscription, the timeline starts. You don't have to use it on all of the allowable devices, but you are set at just one year. I had purchased a personal subscription by mistake and needed several licenses. So, I purchased a home subscription soon after and activated it. I am still limited to the home's device allowances, but i now have two years instead of one. The licenses actually allow 5 pc's /macs, 5 tablets and five smartphones. If you want more than one year, you'll have to buy more than one subscription.
