No, you cannot download programs to a Chromebook which is what this card allows you to do. There is a web-based version of Microsoft Word she can use and I believe it is free for basic features. The only value you would get from this card is cloud storage which you can also get for free by using Google Drive. Also, when you buy a Chromebook you usually get free extra Drive storage.
