Office Home and Student 2019 can only be activated on one device. If you are looking to have access to Word on all your devices you will need Microsoft 365.

I have the Office Home & Student version, which says it is good for 1 PC or 1 Mac and the system requirements, besides Windows 10 for PCs, also says or macOS. If your iPad has the macOS on it, then yes! Ask the store tech guy for a second opinion or go to the Microsoft web site to confirm before you buy.
