The newer Mac OS requires a 64-bit processor. If you're running Catalina, you have a 32-bit processor. I had to buy a new Mac. Once I got the new 64-bit Mac, then several other programs had to be upgraded. It was a pain, but technology moves on and makes the older equipment and applications obsolete.
