When my wife was going to college, 10 years ago, she did need it. The accounting program used Excel at her here college. The school book store on campus sold a student version at a lower price. Word and Power Point can help you with many other classes. I would recommend it. It is always best to check with the school and the classes you are taking for the class requirements.
