I used it with a SurfacePro4 and it seems to work fine. It is the same OEM design and breaks the same way (twists and breaks the thin inside conductors) should have a strain relief. This is my third one, always breaks in the same place (about 1/2" from the magnetic latch). I don't think it is aftermarket, it has MicroSoft name on it, just poor design.

Hi, I have the surface pro 4 and I bought this as a replacement to my original that went bad. I don’t believe these are after market products (like you would get from amazon or eBay). So far, so good after 1 month. Hope this helps!
