I ended up taking a risk and purchased this mouse. Sure enough, EVERY button (including the blue Windows button) is programmable with Microsoft's Mouse and Keyboard Center software. I don't understand why Microsoft doesn't mention this on their site - it's a HUGE bonus! I use my extra mouse buttons to copy/paste. In fact, I almost use my customized buttons more than the standard-issue left/right buttons. Plus this mouse gives me 4 additional buttons to program (well, two are swipe "buttons").

yes. download the software from Microsoft. You can program all the buttons to do anything you want through the software.

It can be programmed but only to the actions that Microsoft provides. Buy a Logitech mouse instead since they are more customizable.
