It’s literally just the material used. The “signature” edition uses this nice fabric like material, where the other one doesn’t.

I believe it is the type of material - fabric-like Alcantra, vs the regular vinyl one

The material they used on the signature cover is different. it goes on sale periodically. I got mine on sale.

It looks like Best Buy has a promotion going on at the moment making the Surface Pro Type Cover less expensive at the moment. Other than slight differences in material and compatibility, the Surface Go Signature Type Cover and the Surface Pro Type Cover essentially perform the same tasks. The main difference is that the Surface Go Signature Type Cover is only compatible with the Surface Go, and includes the soft and stain resistant Alcantara material. The Surface Pro Type Cover is not compatible with the Surface Go.
