“Is there a way to connect this to my computer w/o using the (missing) dongle?”

• No Way. And you have to use the dongle that originally came with the mouse as they're apparently paired at the factory. No other dongle will work and they cannot be re-programmed to work. I've tried and it's a no-go.

• No you need the dongle, check that it's not in your mouse. You can store it near the battery just eject it.
