Yes. It should work within a grocery store just fine. The range should be plenty for use within a building of that size. You should consider getting a couple extra batteries if you are using it in a business setting. Consumer radios like these are designed differently than a business radio (like our heavy duty BR200), which are generally used by multiple people on and off chargers all day. Therefore it is always advised to have some extra rechargeable batteries lying around if you use these at work, because the rechargeable batteries may see heavier use than in other situations. People do buy our consumer radios for use within in a small business setting all the time, and they come with a great warranty, so this should work well for you. For the T51 model, ask for the AVP14 battery when ordering replacements..
