• No special case needed. My wife and I have very thin cases on our phones so there is no problem using wireless charging; however, I assume certain cases may interfere with wireless charging so you may want to confirm that your case is compatible with wireless charging.

• no, just place it on the stand and let it charge. I have 3 of them and use multiple phone cases and don't have a problem with them.
