That WAS my plan too but my desk - which is an Ergotron Standing Desk, isn't compatible with this Mount - as the center of the desk has the mechanism to make it stand. NO PLACE to attach the monitor for me. Seems like you can make that work.

You'll have to ensure that the Monitor is attached to the VESA plate. If the monitor falls down, you will need to adjust the tension counter clock wise following the + arrow .
