• The batteries have to come out if you are using rechargeable ones. If you are using disposable Alkaline or Li-Ion you just swap out old batteries for new ones.

• You have to take the batteries out to charge them. It comes with four AA alkaline batteries.

• The batteries do need to be taken out of the camera to recharge them. The B500 does not allow for charging AA-type rechargeable batteries - in the camera. You might want to use a backup set of AA-alkaline or another set of rechargeable AA-type batteries while you have one set charging.
