“Cold Proof I see the D3300 is cold proof. I'd like to know to about how cold. I know someone who has a D3200 and it's not cold proof nor do the specs say it is. But I have a D80 and a D3000 and both stand up to the cold better than I do, but they don't take video. However, I would like to integrate video into my photo taking now and I want a camera that will take the cold. Is the D3300 the one for the job?”

The optimum operating environment for the Nikon D3300 is between 0 °C-40 °C (32 °F-104 °F). Anything above or below these temperatures can impair the performance of the camera. The Nikon D3200, D3000 and D80 all use the same operating temperature. For a camera that can withstand a bit of colder temperature you may want to try the Nikon COOLPIX AW130 which can operate between -14 °C-40 °C (14 °F-104 °F) and is listed as freezeproof. The Nikon COOLPIX AW130 is also waterproof to 100 feet deep and shockproof from falls up to 7 feet.
