The AF-P 18-55mm lens in this D3400 kit supports focus as close as 0.9 ft. (0.25 meters) with a reproduction ratio of 0.38x . For true macro photography at a 1:1 level look for Micro NIKKOR lenses such as the Nikon AF-S Micro 60mm f/f/2.8G ED Macro lens or the Nikon AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens, which are designed to allow you to capture the finest details at the closest distance.
