The Nikon D3400 DSLR camera does not have a built-in focus motor. This kit comes with a AF-P lens; this lens type uses a built-in “Pulse” motor or “Stepping” autofocus motor to provide smooth and quiet focus. AF-S and AF-P lenses used with the Nikon D3400 will have full autofocus capability while AF-type lenses will need to be autofocused manually.
