The flash on the Nikon D5300 DSLR camera will automatically pop up and fire as required in Auto, Scene Portrait, Child, Close up, Scene Night Portrait, Scene Party/indoor, Scene Pet Portrait, Color Sketch Effect and Toy Effect modes. Other mode settings may require you to chose to fire the flash manually or may not allow the flash to fire at all. Compatible speedlights can also provide additional light for your photographic needs.
